Service Description

This 2.5-hour treatment is a must: • Where there is heaviness, lethargy, stiffness and rigidity in the body • Where there are blocks and obstructions in the body hampering free circulation of nutrients to the cells • Where there is excess fat/cholesterol in the body Your 2.5-hour treatment will start with the 75 min Ayurvedic massage which involves the application of warm herbalized oils to rejuvenate and balance your body. The herbal oil is selected according to your condition and is applied with sweeping flowing strokes. In Ayurvedic massage, the emphasis is on the benefits of the herbal oil application rather than deep pressure massage. This massage will: • provide a revitalising and balancing effect for your body and mind • stimulate the circulatory and lymphatic systems to facilitate the removal of toxins • soothe the nervous system • nourish the skin and deeper tissues of the body and • provide a relaxing effect, decreasing mental and physical tension Your oil massage is then followed by the 15 min herbal steam therapy in our authentic steam box. Heat makes it easier for toxins to be released from the tissues, so Swedana (steaming) after oil massage will maximise the detoxification. Steam will also open the pores to prepare for the 50 min herbal powder massage which will follow next. The aromatic herbal powders are poured on the part of the body to be massaged. Then with fluid motions the herbs are massaged onto the client’s body with light, swirling movements. The movements are against the hair follicles. and massage is continued until sweat appears on the skin. Then the therapist moves to the next part of the body. The massage is finished by brushing off the excess powder from the skin using a paint brush. The client is advised to take a shower post-treatment. The Dry Powder Massage (Udvartana) promotes lymphatic cleansing and is a powerful way to support the removal of ama (cellular waste products) from the body. This technique is recommended for people who have signs of ama (toxicity), which may include fatigue, sluggishness, feeling physical or mental dullness, constipation, and a taxed immune system. This is also an excellent practice for the kapha time of year, the season of spring. This is the time of year when kapha can begin to accumulate in the lymph or the sinuses and create stagnation or respiratory congestion. Your Ayurvedic Practitioner may recommend some herbal and dietary measures during the day of this treatment.
